Peter is a trusted advisor with more than three decades of experience helping businesses make confident, well-informed decisions. Born and bred in Whangārei, he ran his own accounting practice before merging with Sumpters in 2013, bringing with him a strong commercial mindset and a pragmatic approach. Alongside his advisory work, Peter has held a number of significant governance roles, including 16 years as a Director of Northport, where he helped drive the development of the port at Marsden Point.

At Sumpters, Peter works with a broad range of clients and leads the firm’s commercial property management division. He has a strong interest in investment and commercial property, both here in New Zealand and in Australia. He also has a particular affinity for the farming and horticulture sectors, not just from a financial perspective but from personal experience - he and his family run a beef farm, keeping him connected to the realities of rural business.

Peter thrives on collaboration and values the mix of experience and fresh thinking at Sumpters. Outside of work, you’ll usually find him outdoors - fishing, playing tennis, or working on the farm.
